The Face Shop Pure Water Facial Mist - Jeju Marine

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Ahhhh on a hot afternoon, when the face feels tight and dry, don't we all wish for a spritz of cool mist to soothe our skin? Introducing The Face Shop Pure Water Facial Mist - Jeju Marine. A mouthful for a slim bottle of mist.

The Face Shop Says:
Jeju Island’s pure Samdasu water in addition to locally produced flower extract marine extract and orange extract will quench thirsty skin in fine facial mist sIt improves circulation to revitalize tired skin. Its scent is subtle and fresh ocean breeze.

Foxy Frangipani Says:

Color: Clear
Scent: Close to sea breeze
Nett Wt: 70ml
Price: RM11.90 (I got it when it was on sale)

I like that the bottle is slim enough to carry in my makeup pouch.
It does bring relief upon spritzing this. I like to spritz this follow by patting ala Hada Labo style lol. This is non-sticky, and the spritz is very even and distributed.

However, not much to rave about this facial mist. The hydration effect doesn't last long. It merely soothes temporarily. Not bad considering the affordable price tag. But I don't think I would re-purchase this.

Foxy Frangipani Says:

Price: RM105

I was first introduced to this Sun Protector when Niu Er mentioned about this during the Kose Workshop that I attended months back.

Well I didn't regret buying this, cause I really love this :)

The texture is white liquid, so application is a breeze. Spreads very easily. It doesn't leave a white cast on my face. Upon application, my skin feels moisturized but not oily.

Not very sure of its whitening properties though. I don't think it whitens.. but my complexion did brightened, and more even-toned. No new sun spots! :D

Alas, I'm finishing my current bottle. Will only be re-purchasing this next year, because this year my Kose points has hit 4000 pts. It'll be more worth it to start a new points collection next year. Also I prefer to buy this from Jusco - they have the monthly voucher day. Every RM100 - redeem RM20 voucher. So I only pay RM85 *grins*

Hada Labo Tamagohada AHA/BHA Cleanser

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

Busy times ahead as I am finishing a couple of products at the same time, meaning blogging homework! :P

Before I go into the usual details, "I-really-love-this-cleanser!!! Love love love!" There, I said it.. lol.

Hada Labo Says:

Ingredients List:

Water, Butylene Glycol, Potassium Myristoyl Glutamate, PEG-20M, Lauramidopropyl Betaine, Stearic Acid, Lauramide DEA, Glycolic Acid, Lauric Acid, Betaine, Glycol Distearate, Potassium Hydroxide, Methylparabean, Salicylic Acid, Betaine / Sodium PCA / Sorbitol Proline / Glycine / Glutamic Acid / Alanine / Lysine / Arginine / Threonine / Proline / Methylpar

Foxy Frangipani Says:

Scent: Not scented, but I think it smells like egg white?
Texture: Thick mousse
Nett Wt: 130g
Made in: China
Note: Remember to use sunscreen.
Price: RM31.90 (they do go on sale often)

Suds up well, not much of a lather though. I'm pretty fine with this.. less lather means less SLS in it (wait.. I don't think I see SLS in the ingredients, yes?) ;)

Brownie Points:
- It doesn't leave my skin feeling filmsy / tight (unless I overcleansed).

- I use this only in the evening. For a better cleansing, I use a facial brush to gently cleanse the pores. Skin feels incredibly smooth after that.

- A thorough cleanse only requires a small pea-size.

- No, after using one tube my pores did not completely disappear (just looks more even) nor I suddenly look like a supermodel hahhaa.

- I find that my moisturizer sinks in better, and BB Cream / foundation looks so much better.

- Will definitely re-purchase

What I Want For Xmas...

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

.... *sigh dreamily*
It is the time of the year again, Xmas is near, Xmas songs are playing in my head... annnddd - I've got the shopping itch *ohmmm*

Without miss, there are always tempting catalogs from Guardian and Watsons.
Oh and Crabtree Evelyn too. Only, this year I'm giving CE a miss because all the stuffs I want are sold out! (both yay save money and boo I really want them!!)

Crabtree Evelyn's catalog always pleases my eyes..

With 30% off during the preview sales days.. its not surprising these were snapped up fast.

CE hand creams will always be my favourite ahhh... they keep my hands well moisturized :) So loved. And Wisteria, I have been lemming for the EDT for ages.. and now when I finally decide to get it... it was sold out :((

As for these yummies, looking at the price, hehehe posting up the pics would do for now :P

~$~$~$~$~$~$~$~$~$~$~$~$~$~

Okay, moving on to Watsons. Say hello to Rilakkuma! :)
Chho cute! I saw those mugs (PWP) and I know I gotta have them. And look at the cute baby blanket... hehe.

Who could resist these lovely neck pillows... I like Chip n Dale & Eeyore :D
And Xmas is not complete without chocolates and toys!

Beauty related...

I tried the Majolica Liner in Grey and really like the colour. And Mogitate Lipbalms.. something new, only.. I still have a couple to finish.

New range from Vichy - the Essentielles. With Rose Polyphenols and Paraben-Free. These are targeted for those with sensitive skin. Best part? They are very affordable!

Facial Cleanser 100ml - RM25
Facial Emulsion 50ml - RM35
Facial Cream 50ml - RM35
Softening Shower Gel 200ml - RM25
Body Cream-Milk 200ml - RM29

Been noticing these for some time now.. Pure Beauty now has whitening range. I tried the AntiOxidant Eye Cream and really like it (reviewing it soon). Wonder if this is as good?

Last but not least.. this is what I want most from Watsons..

Organic skincare for Sukin.. RM85 for all full sized items! WANT, but I'll also tell you about my "expensive weekend"... and you tell me if I should still go for this eh? ;)

Ok, next from Guardian (I'm not liking Guardian at the mo):

Its a jolly good time to collect those additional stickers, unless you plan to spend RM1200 for a free toy..

Revlon nail polish is on BOGO, eyeing purples and plums... mmmm

Should I return to Cetaphil or try Sukin? :P Price has increased though. Used to be RM68 for 2 bottles, free hand towel.

Also time to replenish sunblock.. Kose Sun Protector is finishing (I love this, but a lil pricey and I've hit the 4000 points quota this year, so will only buy next year), I have one Nature Republic Sun Balm as backup. But it needs time to blend the balm.. not something that I fancy doing in the mornings.

I'm eyeing the Matte version.. hopefully my skin accepts.

How good is this IDI MultiAction Mask actually... is it worth RM148 even? Haha now I ask $$ questions, after spending RM189 on Polynia Sake Mask ( I happen to love the Sake Mask hehehe).

Reviews... more reviews pls.

Don't know why I am attracted to this. I haven't really tried any products from Avene.. Just... don't know why..

*reminding myself of my recent expensive weekend!* arrghhh..

Note:
A lil unhappy with the service level from Guardian Malaysia.
I popped by on the 25th night asking if I can have a copy of the Xmas Catalog, and was told no because the sale haven't started. So I need to go back on the 26th instead. Duh.. it was already 9pm... but fine I left feeling a lil annoyed.

Then on the 26th, my mom went and requested for a copy and guess what the SA told her? "No cannot give, as we only have limited copies". "You must buy something then you can have the catalog". WTF?

As a customer / potential customer, we want the catalog to see what interests us, is it not? If you know quantities are limited - whose problem is that?

My mom told the SA "well, I want to see what are on sale then I decide what to buy..?" The greatest answer given by Guardian "oh ok.. you can stand here and look.."

Needless to say my mom walked out of Guardian empty handed. And I don't really feel like spending in Guardian anymore now.. ugghh.

I Wish For Thee...

Estee Lauder Nutritious Vita-Mineral Moisture Milk

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

I was clearing my vanity space when I realized there is another Estee Lauder Moisturizer that have not been reviewed (I believe there is a couple more lol).

Similar to the Radiance Serum, I could no longer find any info from Estee Lauder's website.

    Estee Lauder Says:
A lightweight, fast absorbing milky lotion.
Refreshes skin in morning for a radiant, healthy look.

Contains advanced skin-drenchers & essential minerals
Helps protect skin from daytime dehydration & external aggressors.

Fortifies skin natural ability to revive skin.
    Skin appears soft & energized
    Suitable for Asian skin types

    Foxy Frangipani Says:
    Nett Wt: 50ml
    Made in: UK
    Price: I forgot... sorry!
    Skin types: All
    Color: White
Texture: Milky, similar to Hada Labo Moisturizing Milk
    Scent: Fruity

I quite like this because its texture is milky, hence easy to spread on.
Absorbs almost instantly, leaving my skin really hydrated.
    Non sticky too.

When I used this, I was still sitting at my old cubicle space, which wasn't as cold and drying. Hence for me the hydration effect was sufficient and satisfactory. Only thing is.. it doesn't contain SPF.

Google of The Day: Cinnamon Powder for Skin

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

I have been very tempted to include Cinnamon into part of my skincare routine. Of course, the packet of cinnamon powder stayed in the kitchen for a couple of weeks because my hobby is procrastinating? :P

Finally! I cut it open and store into the empty Gui Ling Gao containers (oh I love the size, just perfect for a quick mask mixture / storing my scrub / mask powders – more reasons to stock up hee).

I attempted my first facial mask with cinnamon powder, without any expectation in return. I just wanna try it. Instead of the infamous honey + cinnamon mix, I used yoghurt and cinnamon instead.

    - 1 teaspoon of yoghurt
    - ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon powder

Mix them well, and I started to really like the yummy smell..

This proportion is enough for 2-3 times use – I like to slather on a thick layer as a treat. So what happen then?

    - I felt a stinging sensation, like slight burning for a good 2-3 mins!
    - I left it on for about 15 mins
    - It kinda thickened a little after a while
    - Washed it off with a towel soaked in warm water.

    Foxy Finds:

    - This is best used at night just before you retire to bed; because it does leave a pinkish flush on my face for about 15-20 mins. Unless its Halloween and you wanna sport a baboon-arsed face.. Its gone after about 20 mins though.

    - Face is really smooth to touch, very soft. Likes!

    - Face looks hydrated, no tight feeling.

    - The whole experience is really calming.. cinnamon makes me think cosy, and warm on a rainy day..

    ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I did some Googling on Cinnamon for skin care and here are some infos:

    - Cinnamon actually has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. This could explain the burning sensation I felt? Further reads, some ppl do experience stingings / burnings sensation. But if it kills the germs for me and load my skin with antioxidant, heck the 2-3 mins are worth it!

    - Remedy for Skin Imperfections: Applying equal quantities of a paste of Honey and Cinnamon Powder on the affected skin before sleeping and washing it the next day morning with warm water for about two weeks; would remove the infections and bring the glow back to the skin. Even pimples would disappear. Hmm I don’t think I could sleep with this on! So… sticky and may attract ants! Nooooo…

Say, a little more info on Cinnamon:

The name cinnamon comes from Greek kinnámōmon, from Phoenician and akin to Hebrew qinnâmôn, itself ultimately from a Malaysian language, cf. Malay and Indonesian kayu manis which means sweet wood.

Its flavour is due to an aromatic essential oil. This oil is prepared by roughly pounding the bark, macerating it in seawater, and then quickly distilling the whole. It is of a golden-yellow colour, with the characteristic odour of cinnamon and a very hot aromatic taste.

The pungent taste and scent come from cinnamic aldehyde or cinnamaldehyde and by the absorption of oxygen as it ages, it darkens in colour and develops resinous compounds. Chemical components of the essential oil include ethyl cinnamate, eugenol, cinnamaldehyde, beta-caryophyllene, linalool and methyl chavicol.

    Some of its other uses:

    - Cinnamon has aphrodisiacal powers. (Ooohh..?)

    - Strengthens heart beat

    - Reduces the cholesterol level in the arteries. Honey and Cinnamon revitalize arteries and veins by unclogging the clogged arteries and veins

    - Arthritis: take daily morning and night one cup of hot water, with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder. It is stated that if taken regularly, even chronic Arthritis can be cured.

    - Bladder Infections: take two tablespoons of Cinnamon Powder and one teaspoon of Honey, in a glass of lukewarm water, and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

    - Toothache: make a paste of one teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder and five teaspoons of Honey and apply on the aching tooth. Apply three times.

    - Weight loss: equal part of Cinnamon Powder and Honey is boiled in a cup of water and consumed daily half an hour before breakfast and before sleeping it reduces excess weight in an obese person. Whoaaa!

    - Reduces fatigue

    - Restore the hearing power from 20Hzs to 20Khz. Really!?

    - Get rid of bad breath: Gargle a mixture of cinnamon and honey in water. Poor Listerine…

    - Hair loss: Those suffering from hair loss or baldness, may apply a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min. and then wash the hair. It was found to be very effective

    There! So many benefits..

I will be continuing this yoghurt cinnamon mask.. :)

Enriched with extracts of grapefruit and honeysuckle, this moisturizing, non-greasy lotion absorbs quickly and smoothes fine lines, noticeably improving skin tone and texture. Leaves hands silky smooth.

Smooth onto hands until well absorbed. Reapply as needed.

Available Sizes: 4.2 FL oz (125ml)

    Price: $3.99

    Foxy Frangipani Says:

Texture: Uhmm how do I describe this.. like thick mousse?
Scent: I love the light, fresh citrusy smell. Lingers for quite a while too.
    Price: Affordable at about RM16.50

    The Good:

~ It does absorbs almost instantly, without leaving any oily residue (my keypad loves!)
~ Not slippery when I wash my hands either.
~I sometimes use this as a quick foot hydrator hehe.

    The Bad:
~ The only downside is that it doesn’t hydrate for long.
~ I really have to be generous in applying this one.

    Eyeko Face Off Cleansing Wipes

    Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

Am supposed to post this up like the min I came back from Taiwan... but ya know, my hauls are still lying on the floor after 2 weeks... :D

Earlier this year, I ordered some stuffs from Eyeko and they sent me a couple of these cleansing wipes as GWP. Now usually at home, there is no need for me to use cleansing wipes. Kinda pointless since I'd always double cleanse (even though the evil bed at times tried to entice me to it with makeup on).

So when I packed for my Taiwan trip, I thought it was then or never.
The trip did exhaust my skin to its worst, so I went makeup-less starting Day 4, or 5?

Couldn't find any info on this from Eyeko's site (I wonder why?)
    But here are the ingredients:

I had on the Bio Essence BB Cream (ughh I dislike it, will tell you why later), with some pressed powder and blusher. Lipgloss and no mascara.

After like 10 hours, I wiped my face with the cleansing wipe and that was what I got.. hehe not an interesting sight. But that showed it somehow worked, eh?

It was pre-moistened just enough for a proper whole face wipe down.

No signs of stinging, redness and itchiness - brownie points!
Don't remember my nose hating it, so scent wise - its all good too.
Can't really vouch if it gave me breakouts (though I think it was very likely the Bio Essence BB Cream that did it!)

In short, I think this is nice to have, but not a must for ppl like me who insist on proper cleansing every evening.

    Lets Get Oily

    Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

I've been reading about the oil cleansing method, and also how natural oil benefits our skin better than other skincare.

Very tempted to try when I saw women who practice this method have flawless, glowy skin! Soooo... jealous? :P

So I did some reading up, and decided to give it ago..
Wanted to start with sesame oil and castor oil for deep cleansing purpose. But didn't exactly know where to get these from. Went to an indian groceries shop and they don't know what is castor oil.. sigh.

I finally went to the "Indian Street" where there are rows after rows of shops selling spices, groceries, sarees etc.

    And I found these :D

Yeah, packaging is a little plain boring, but its the content that matters, hee.
Did I mention these are very affordable too? Less that RM3 each!

As I read that Castor Oil could be drying, I ratioed my concoction to 30% Castor Oil and 70% Sesame Oil. Gave it a good shake to mix them up..

    Foxy Finds:
    - 30-70 ratio is still a little too thick in consistency to massage it onto skin. May want to add a little olive oil..

    - Castor oil has a deep strong scent, not too relaxing on certain (mostly) stressfull days. I added a few rosebuds into the glass bottle. :)

    - I tried this as a makeup remover, removing Lancome Teint Miracle 03 + blusher. Look at that gunk! Just pat it on, let it sit for a few seconds, swiped it off and whoaaa all the dirts are off..

I didn't think I believe this oil can clean so well.. so I tested with a new clean cotton pad + toner... and did a swipe test..

    - Look at thaaaaaat! Nothinzzzz :D

    - I'm so sold hahahhaha.

However, I do have another 64215423524 tubes of cleanser in my treasure boxes... so I'm really keen to finish off those tubes and just fully use this all natural method :)

Ok, maybe I'll just use this method at night... so I'm allowed to re-stock some favourite cleansers for day use? :P

    Over The Weekend...

    Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

Yes, its already Wednesday.. heee but I was busy packing for my trip.. still haven't finish :P

Previously I used to complete my packing 2 weeks in advance. This year, all my trips were last minute packing.. I wonder why!

Anyway, these are what attracted me over the weekend:

Whoaaa not another new collection from Crabtree and Evelyn!? I need to save aiiii. But looks very pretty me thinks. Purple hmmm :) Going to redeem my freebie soon, hopefully tomorrow.

Guess what attracted me to this? Yep, purple! Haha then followed by Organic. The have quite a complete range;- toner, lotion, cream, mask. Looks promising, but I won't be buying these for now.

Maybe after my Taiwan trip and/or when I finish up some of my existing products first :)

And then I stumbled upon these (Oh Lord..)

Yes, by now you know.. PURPLE. Whats with me and purple?
I don't know? Just.. very very seductive me thinks..

and as if the above are not enough, here is another one from the morning papers:

With ingredients like Frangipani & Night Blooming Jasmine, together with purple and Tease.. does it not just scream SEXY?!

    Sigh dreamily...

Boots Jasmine Rice & Jasmine Body Lotion

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Body Lotions - my must have beauty item. Nightly ritual before hitting bed - slather on yummy body lotions for well hydrated skin the next morning.

    Boots Says:

    Whats In It?

    Foxy Frangipani Says:

She loves loves loves this! :D
One of the best I've tried so far.

Scent: Sweet, like yummy pandan dessert! A hint of delicious coconut too.
    Nett Wt: 400ml
    Texture: Creamy white
Price: I think 129 Baht (sometimes they go on BOGO huyahh)
    Others: Made in Thailand

If you're into Palm Reading, can you tell I think ALOT? Lol.. too much worries yo..

I have seasonal dry skin especially on my legs. If left without lotion for more than a day - I get scaly skin! Yucks.

This lotion is easy to smooth on; whether on dry or damp skin. I usually use 5 pumps before bedtime - 2 for my arms, and 3 for full legs ;) So I can actually finish this 400ml bottle in about 2 months?

Also, it absorbs very fast, leaving non oily surface so no worries about staining the sheets (I'm very very particular about this).

Each morning I wake up to really hydrated skin, and smells so darn good.
I'm finishing this in no time, so I am hoping this goes on sale again on my next trip to Bangkok :D

Just too bad its not available in Malaysia, sigh!
Boots, when are you coming here!?

Quickie: Another Tug @ My Fragile Heart (Purse)

    Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

Just when I thought its all peace after my CCD induced buys (Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Nectar and Yves Saint Laurent Love Collection Compact Powder); I got another email from StawberryNet.com.

    And I saw this:

Another Shimmer Brick on sale! - Rose

    At USD19, I don't think I could resist, arrgghh!
Weaknesses, weaknesses... I'm only human. I happen to lust after blushers / highlighters / bronzers.. Calm down...

Skin Diary: Late Sept - Early Oct

    Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

Just a quick update on my current skin condition.

I noticed some changes since about 3 weeks back. No drastic change to my lifestyle / diet / sleeping pattern; so I'm wondering why the "phase". I tried skipping my BB cream to see which is the culprit - nope not the BB Cream (I miss you BB Cream!)

    - My cheeks and forehead feels dry, tightness after each wash and after lunch-hour heat.

    - Some red patches on my cheeks. Looks flushed, but not the nice type of flush, sigh.

    - Tiny bumps (white heads) along my jawline.

    - Some mild itchiness at the jawline. The spot where it itches feels dry.

    - Less mid-day shine. Instead feels kinda tight and itchy.

I have a feeling these started when I switched to the highly raved Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. Funny enough, when I sampled it, I liked it. Now.. I find it rather silicone-y. Ugh and 125ml!

I leave that to my elbows and shoulders.

So I again switched, this time to Etude Perfect Balance Finish Lotion. Not moisturizing enough sigh. Still experience the tight feeling. I guess with my previous normal skin condition this lotion would work just nice for me. Not too oily, just enough moisture and shine control.

Unfortunately for now, I think I'd better change to something richer till those dry patches subside. Or amp up my moisturizing serum. I previously used Clinique Turnaround Concentrate with DDML.

    Time for a skin detox.

    Another Gulp...

    Ingredients
Mineral Oil, Isopropyl, Isostearate, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Polysorbate 80, PEG-8 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Sorbitan Trioleate, Polyglyceryl-3 Diisostearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Water, PEG-6 Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, PPG-10 Cetyl Ether, Benzyl Alcohol, Fragrance, Propylparaben, Butylene Glycol, Camellia Oleifera leaf extract, lodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, Rosmarinus Officinlis (Rosemary) leaf extract

    Foxy Frangipani Says:

Nett Wt: 15ml - sample size
Scent: Strong, may be overpowering for some.
    Texture: Clear oil, quite thick.
    Price: I think about NT$239

I got this as a freebie when I purchase a Taiwanese beauty mag for RM3 so I'm unable to tell you much about this.

The first time I used this I got shocked by the very strong scent. Very deep scent, so some may not like this. After a few more uses, I kinda like this. Kinda therapeutic smell haha.

Its texture is thicker than Biore's. Able to remove my BB Cream completely as well as some light eye makeup. Not so much on waterproof mascara though.

Emulsify into milky texture once in contact with water, and when rinsed thoroughly, it does not leave an oily filmsy feel. No need for a second wash, but I have a habit of double cleansing so I follow up with my regular foam cleanser and voila, really clean skin. Doesn't feel tight, and didn't break me out. :)

I don't think this is available in Malaysia, saw this in one of the mags - retailing for NT239 for full sized 250ml?

Will buy the full sized product if I can find one :)

Avon Simply Delicate Feminine Wash - Soothing

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Let's move away from the usual beauty products for a while, eh?
Feminine hygiene is a important as keeping our faces clean, if not more.

I've started to try quite a number of Avon products of late, happy to say most of them works quite well for me. I switched to Simply Delicate from my usual Lactacyd just to see if this is just as good.

They come in a few variants, today I'll be reviewing the Soothing one, with Oak Bark.

    Avon Says:

    Foxy Frangipani Says:
    Scent: Mildly soothing
    Texture: Semi-transparent white cream.
Nett Wt: 400ml (also comes in 100ml, and 200ml)
Price: NP RM14.85, I got this at sale price RM9.90
    Others: Made in Phillipines

Hmm I'm aware that this contains SLS and alcohol, not exactly my favourite ingredients. However I find that this cleanses well, non-iritating and non-drying. I feel fresh almost all day.

This 400ml bottle lasted me about 3-4 months of twice a day use.
Especially handy during the time of the month when I really want to feel refreshingly clean.

I would probably re-purchase this, in fact I have another 2 variants to try out before deciding if I'll go back to Lactacyd :)
