AMPM Skin Ecological Indoor Defense Cream

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in , ,

Together with the Skin Ecological Complex, I bought these on BOGO too. But I don't remember how much. I've used up both (all 4) by now, and time to get rid of the bottles and tubes. Spring cleaning- yet again!

These IDC come in a toothpaste like tube, each 30g.
It is slightly yellow in color, and feels like thick yogurt. When applied after the SEC, it absorbed almost immediately and skin felt matte. It is softly scented, I don't find it annoying my nose at all.

I find this having a great oil control function - because when paired with SEC - my skin was constantly in great condition. No mid day oiliness, end of day fatigue, signs of exhaustion. Just nice and matte. :D

This is also the reason why I've been complaining of the lack of a suitable day cream, after this one finished. (but I might have found a near replacement hehe).

Definitely looking to repurchase this soon.

AMPM Skin Ecological Complex

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in , ,

Nett Wt: 30ml
Price: In the RM20+ range (I bought these at a discounted price + BOGO)

These were one of the best buys from my Taiwan trip. The texture of the serum is watery but when applied did not appear whitish. They absorb beautifully without the slimy feel.

I find these rather similar to Dermalogica Booster. But of course, at a much cheaper price. My skin tends to look healthy and supple when I apply this, sans redness which I'm prone to.

I'm hoping to repurchase this soon.

Travel Essentials - Beauty

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

After numerous trips (either out of town, or overseas); I've come to a conclusion on my beauty travel essentials.

* Almost 99% of the time I'd be dammed lazy to go through the entire routine. Usually I'd be out all day with lots of walking and would come back very late at night. I won't even wanna shower but that's non-negotiable.

* Of course when I pack for the trip I'd do the complete routine including makeup and all. But most of the time I couldn't even be bothered with foundation.

* I would however cleanse properly. Double cleanse. Scrub and masks; if any means I'm extra diligent. I occasionally will use sheet mask (when I will up myself to lie still and not busy taking pics of my loot). My multiple findings are scrub is a must too if the stay is longer than 4 days.

* Next a moisturising toner. Eye cream and then serum and moisturiser.  Because sleeping with air conditioning zaps my skin dry. For longer trip I'd pack sleeping mask.

For my recent 3 days trip here are the items I actually reached for.. consistently.

= cotton pads and ear buds. Useful to exfoliate with toner. You do clean your ears right?

= hair leave in conditioner. My long hair is giving me the ÷=£₩/_£@$ if I don't use something to condition. This is a repeated purchase. My long hair don't PMS on me when I spritz this on.

= lip balm. Well same like for skin. I can't stand tight dry lips.

= eye cream. Sachet sample is best and most convenient.

= serum and moisturiser. Same as eye cream.

= scissors. To cut those sachets. I hate to tear with hand as it would look disfigured (crazy).

= perfume. Alot of walking means potential body odour. Keep fresh and smell nice.

= panty liner. Hehehe I pack alot of these as I need to feel dry and fresh on the go.

However I do need to amp up on diligence in using sunscreen and some sheer foundation. After all I do wanna look good in pics! :)

Price: RM98 from Sasa, but they always have sales (Buy 1 Free 1 / second at 50%)

Before I stopped frequenting Sasa (Penang branch - I dislike their arrogant salespersons and their lack of product knowledge); I am glad I got this gem.
Because for sometime now, I haven't manage to find another BB Cream as good as this :S

This BB cream is not thick and makes application quite a breeze. I usually just blend with fingers. It gave me flawless dewy finish which lasted the whole day. No need for powder. It did however leave a slight grey cast upon application, but it adjusted to my skin tone perfectly minutes after that.

When I had this on, you can't tell my skin is prone to redness. Now I only wish it doesn't have to cost RM98 heh.

Kiehl's Acai Damage Correcting Moisturizer

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Kiehl's Says:
An antioxidant-enriched, non-greasy, organic moisturizer
  • Skin is visibly renewed, smoother, and more even-toned
  • Ecocert Organic Certified with 100% Natural Origin Ingredients
  • Paraben- and Silicone-free
  • Dermatologist tested for gentleness and suitable for sensitive skin

Foxy Frangipani Says:
As I only had 1 of this, I used this on my second trip to KL with the serum. This texture is much thicker, and lighter in colour. But the scent is similar to the serum.

Upon application I feel an immediate suppleness on skin. Together with the citrusy scent it felt relaxing. However with continuous use I find it a little too rich for my skin; and I need to blot more. Couldn't really fault this moisturizer but I wasn't in love with it.

I don't think I will be purchasing this - I'm currently finishing one by Pangea and I think I found The One? ;)

Kiehl's Acai Damage Repairing Serum

Kiehl's Says:
An organic serum that repairs skin’s tone, texture, and elasticity

  • Ecocert Organic Certified with 100% Natural Origin Ingredients
  • Paraben- and Silicone-free
  • Dermatologist tested for gentleness and suitable for sensitive skin

Foxy Frangipani Says:
Kiehl's gives the most generous samples ever! 5ml of this Acai Serum lasted me about 5-7 uses :)

Now next to the Midnight Recovery Concentrate, this is my favourite item from Kiehl's. I'll tell you why..

With most samples, I tend to save them for holidays use. So I packed this with me during two of my trips to KL recently. First was for a friend's wedding. It was quite a mad rush trip and earlier with some very very late nights; then there was meeting up with relatives and shopping mad before the wedding dinner. So my skin was kinda dull.. from the lack of sleep.

I used this without expecting anything in specific (also my skin dislike the air conditioning). The texture is quite runny, and brown in colour. I love the citrusy scent but had a hard time exacting the smell. It spreads and absorb easily and fits my requirement when it didn't leave me a tacky feel.

But boy.. the next morning I woke up to really good looking skin. Of course I couldn't believe my eyes so I asked The Husband to verify lol. Just one application and I see supple well rested skin. Whoa, but after the sachet I told myself to calm down.. maybe I was a little OTT.

Then the next trip - I fell sick with food poisoning. I spent the night throwing up with no sleep. But even when I was sick, I still care about my skincare. Again I was so pleased when the sun rose and I can see myself clearly.. I didn't have to look haggard going to the doctor lol. Skin looks healthy, just the stomach sick then.

The only thing that holds me back from rushing to the store and buying a full bottle? I have too many serums at the moment :( Also my MRC are coming to an end (after lasting so long!) I sure look forward to purchasing the serum soon. Airport - travel exclusive size please?

Female October 2013

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

It has been a couple of months since I stopped buying monthly magazines. This used to be my favourite activity until... I find myself out of living space.

And worse I didn't like throwing them away so then clutter happened and I got stressed.  Gee.. so I started to just browse and read online. If I do see too many interesting products the magazines come home with me heh.

This month's Female caught me with some freebies. A travel size Darlie toothpaste and Lactacyd samples. What a perfect timing. 2 holiday trips are coming up and yes I ran out of travel toothpaste.

I don't like bringing the full size- too heavy. But buying travel size are usually not worth the money pftt so this comes handy. Also the Lactacyd samples are convenient to use. I've used a couple duting my last Bangkok trip so 2 more samples are great. They keep me fresh hassle free.

There's also a redemption for Clarins Double Serum which I've redeemed. 7 sachets for 7 days use. Am still considering if to bring these along.. I do have older samples to use..

Mini Cherry Culture Haul

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

Looky looky what came in a parcel today ;)

My modest haul from Cherry Culture,  after being good for two months. These lovelies were packed compactly into a tight loaf of bread like. Nothing leaked nothing broken.

Just happy.
Love those blush sticks. And the lip crayon.

The Body Shop Moringa Shower Gel

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

I don't really remember which set this shower gel came in. I probaby bought it for less than RM10 to meet the minimum spend etc.

Like  other Body Shop shower gels, this one is easy to lather (but not alot of bubbles or foam). No issue in rinsing it off too.

What i love best about it was its scent. Reminds me of something very exotic. Like, on a vacation to a breezy place.

  • self-standing for easy storage

Foxy Frangipani Says:
Price: USD 9.99

Made in: China

Real Techniques brushes has been in my wish list for a long long time. I stalked iHerb for sometime and when I was sent a 20% discount code, the wait has ended :P

In short, I love this brush. It is not heavy despite the size. Its bristles are really soft to touch and not scratchy. I use this with most powder products and applies wonderfully. Very even application.

The best part is that it is super easy to clean. It dries almost immediately. I usually will dab with an absorbent towel before leaving it to dry. And it doesn't shed.

I've read some rants that the self standing brush is a pain in storing. But it doesn't bother me much. Do just fine in a medium sized vase from Ikea.

Dr Wu Basic Care Series Gentle Soothing Cleanser and Makeup Remover

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Whiee what a mouthful. This review is based on a sample sachet trial.

I'm on holiday now and am trying to use up some samples. After day 2 I couldn't be bothered with BB Cream anymore and head out without makeup.

I initially thought it was a cleansing oil and I rubbed it on dry face. I felt weird because the texture was runny and when rubbed on palm had slight lather... when I add more water it occurred to me that it is a foam cleanser *silly*

It felt light and rinses very well. Doesn't strip my skin dry and my skin feels fresh. Nice. But I don't think it would be a good makeup remover..

Burts Bees Beeswax Lip Balm

Burts Bees Says:
The original. The best. And still your favorite. Our must-have balms have been playing in purses and pockets since 1991. Beeswax conditions skin, while antioxidant Vitamin E moisturizes.

A final hint of Peppermint Oil provides that one-of-a-kind refreshing tingle. The result? Smooth, supple lips everyone will be buzzing about.

Foxy Frangipani Says :
It is very rare for me to actually finish a tube of lip balm. I'm very surprised when I find I could no longer twist the tube up! Look at the worn look of the tube lol.

This lip balm isn't like Carmex where the texture is too soft. This is firmer and won't melt. It has a soft smell and when applied on disappears in a few secs.

I like how this balm doesn't irritate my lips. No tingling or redness. But makes my lips feel plump and soft. No waxy layer; my lips feels like mine :) One application can last me a couple of hours too.

I wouldn't mind repurchasing this despite being slightly more expensive than the regular drugstore lip balms.

Shaklee Get Clean Water

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

I got this as a gift last year and is still currently using this. I like that it didn't need any installation. Just basic rinse and soak for a couple of hours before the first use and we're good to go.

I already have a water filter attached to the tap, so for me this is double filtering. The great thing is this doesn't make the water smell. I wash the unit weekly and refill this twice a day - I drink alot of water! Together with the multiple vitamins that I take daily, I am happy to declare that I don't fall sick as often :D No more weekly sniffles (yes weekly if not twice a week at least)

Shaklee Says:
A fresh take on healthier water, Get Clean® Water is a new multipatented water filtration system. Unlike other water pitchers, Get Clean® Water uses a solid block of carbon to clean your water, reducing some pretty nasty contaminants—including up to 99 percent of lead!

Oriental Princess Natural Intensive C Repairing Serum

Foxy Frangipani Says:
Nett Wt: 60ml
Made in: Thailand
Scent: Citrus
Price: About 350 - 500 Baht

Vitamin C.. they are good for us aren't they? I pop mine daily in the morning. And when I came across this in Bangkok last year, I had to try one.

The texture is not sticky or thick, makes application really easy. Doesn't sit on top either. Once absorbed, skin feels smooth to touch. No tingling or sensitivity issue.

This is mildly scented - fresh citrus. I only use this at night. Keeps the pimples at bay somehow but does not take care of redness. I find that if I use this continuosly after a month I no longer see any differences. So I skipped a month monthly and I see more positives. 60 ml for the price is really a steal.

I wouldn't mind repurchasing this one, but I am tempted to check out what is new at Oriental Princess :)

LilacBox 3

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

This happens to be the only beauty box I purchase amidst all the 12376521 different ones out there. This is my second purchase (I skipped the 1st Box). The first experience wasn't quite a pleasant one as the Nuxe cleanser leaked into the box. However customer service was quick and I was given some Lilac Points as compensation.

I like the fact that I do not need to subscribe to X months. Just buy as and when I feel like it. Not knowing the brands could be risky, but so far with Lilac Box, their products were pretty impressive. I love the Nuxe (love love love loveeee) items, Phyto, and fragrance samples.

This round, we have Babor - I've not tried anything from Babor.. curious to see if I would be an addict :P

And Yves Rocher shower gel - very nice smelling.
I've had pleasant experience with Max Factor foundation so the many sachets included are perfect for holidays and trips.

Now I'm patiently waiting for the concept box to arrive..

Sightings - Watsons 29 June13

The last time I visited Aeon SP was over a year ago.. and I remember the Watsons here were the first in Penang to carry Essence products.

Made another trip today since we miss the food at Black Canyon Coffee.

I am pleased to find these!
Last month after reading one of the women's magazine I went looking for Kanebo Freshel Mineral BB Cream Pore Cover MB but couldn't find any.  I found the entire range including some skincare items here!

Also Essence Illuminating Makeup Base and Skin Perfection Makeup Base were very tempting. Now if only people don't open up too many items and left them to spoil..

Produced for Daiso..

These bright coloured mascaras caught my eyes in one of my recent trips to Daiso. They are all made in Korea ansd comes in:

- Volume up
- Top coat (clear)
- Long & curl

I got mine; and for early birds I got a anti bacterial moisturising hand gel too. All these for RM30 :)

Carmex Moisturising Lip Balm

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

I see a lot of raves for this lip balm so when I first saw it in Taiwan I didn't hesitate getting 1. The reviews sounds very promising so I had really high expectations on this little fella.

First the texture. It is super soft and buttery. So soft it easily gets dented. Still this doesn't bother me much as I'm not clumsy with stuffs.

The killer is its fake medicinal smell. Wait maybe not medicinal but very chemical-ish. And the waxy feel on my lips.. no go. These 2 puts me off from using it though it has SPF.

Upon application it gives a tingle and feels cool. But I don't think I will continue using it. Definitely not a repurchase.

Etude Fest

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in

Ever since my KL trip I came back stalking Etude outlets for the remaining 2 All Over Color. No such luck as one of it was always out of stock.

Weirdly though I managed to score some items each time. The Husband did some damages too but they were very affordable.

I've got the Baby Choux Base in Mint and Berry. Now I'm praying these base wouldn't give me geisha look. I've used the Berry once and I like the texture. Geisha wise.. maybe need some effort.

However,  I finally found the remaining 2!!! Now complete is my collection. Probably weekend is a good time to experiment.  Have been sad and tired due to some sad events in life.

Perhaps better times coming soon :)

Oriks Water Max Gel Cream

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Nett Wt: 30ml
Made in: Korea
Texture: Gel

I bought this from Bangkok 7-11 some time back. This came with a cleanser,  toner and a BB cream.

Lately I've been dissatisfied with the day creams I tried. Either too sticky or too light or made my skin look tired. (Maybe stress causes these because I recently went through some sad events. Loved ones passed on and work got political hmm).

This turned out to be the better one. Not perfect but I do reach out for this alot. The gel texture does not leave my skin sticky -

I pat my palms on my cheeks a couple of times and I am good to go. Hydration wise it does its job decently. Nothing longer than 6 or 7 hours. I prefer something a little more moisturising of course. I did not detect any scent using this.

I quite like this but it didn't meet all my needs so probably not repurchasing this.

KL Trip May 2013

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

The main purpose of the trip is for a night of get together; but somehow the shopaholic in me managed to squeeze in time for shopping.

Something drew me into the Etude outlet in Times Square. The Husband scored some super affordable skincare from the collagen range (he blamed me for his growing skincare addiction heh!)

When it is Buy 1 Free 1, it is difficult to choose...
I had some samples of the Baking Powder scrub from my Korea trip - I love the scent and texture. So of course its the right time to buy!

My eyes did an autopilot looking for blushers.. and settled on Sweet Recipe Cupcake All Over Color. I picked two out of four as one was out of stock. RM41.90 for 2..

The window display at Sasa caught my attention - the massage bar. Turned out free with each Loreal Revitalift product. I chose the moisturiser.

My second trip to Hyakuland (Daiso's twin) - some powders and concealers. I've collected blushers from my first trip back in December..

Some gold and silver eye shadows from Essence. Collections are so much slower in Penang.. hmmm.. just look at the EU releases already hmmph.

Time Square is a great place to shop for accessories. Affordable - belts and earrings at RM10 each. Also, some pretty dresses and cardis also at RM10 each! Now I wish I am a petite Thai size....

Scent: Floral
Nett Wt: 30ml
Made in: Taiwan
Texture: White milky lotion

Another item from my Taiwan trip :)

I remember I was super excited at one of the Watsons outlet because I saw the entire Naruko range there. Spent quite some time browsing and deciding what to buy, because it was sale time (thank you thank you so lucky I was there when many outlets were having sales); many items are either on discount or Buy 1 Free 1 :D

I didn't have time to browse the internet for reviews on this, but I thought it looked good. I have to try it. And boy I'm glad I did!

Ok let me gush about the scent first. If I were to rate what I like most about this serum, it would be the scent. Each time I apply this, I am reminded of Wesak's Day. You know the fragrant floral water that devotees use to bathe the Buddha? Yes this smells just like that. I love it! Its so relaxing.

I use about 3-4 pumps for face and neck. This milky lotion is very easy to absorb, and didn't make my face shiny. No breakouts too. I only use this for day time. I'm already done with the serum :( Lasted me about 1.5 months of once a day use.

Now for the brightening effect.. I think it does help a little. Because I've been too slack with the sunscreen (don't ask why, don't shriek too - just another episode of crappy sunscreens and I don't know what other ways to finish them before I open a new one). So, I've been without sunscreen for probably 2-3 months or more now? Sun exposure as usual - lunch time glaring sun for say 3-5 mins? Irregular though.

I didn't develop any new dark spots. While I didn't turn into luminuous Snow White, not getting new dark spots seems kinda great. Right?

Couldn't vouch for firming though, because I've been quite consistant in massage and sagging haven't come visiting :P

I will most probably repurchase this again because I really love the scent. Ahhh.

By the way, the glass bottle is quite heavy and its not easy to gauge the content inside. So I am unlikely to take this along for travels.

Scent: Mild, non irritating
Nett Wt: 200ml
Made in: France
Texture: Cream

I got these when the news of Vichy pulling out of Malaysia came to my knowledge. They were on buy 1 free 1 clearance.

This is a fine cleanser. On my bare faced days I use this both day and night. It doesn't rinse well though.. I think it is meant to be wiped off with tissue. But I don't like using tissue, or no rinsing (icky); so my trusted dampened muslin cloth it is.. After cleansing my skin really does not feel tight or dry.

I'm not comfortable with just using this alone when I have my BB cream or foundation on. I find it still leaves some residue on.. However this is my go to cleanser in the morning when I do not want to strip off too much oil from my skin.

I've since finished one tube, and am wondering if I would repurchase this again (overseas that is..). I'm not exactly loyal to facial cleansers.. but I really do like this one quite a bit.

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Airbrushing Kabuki Brush

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in , ,

I'm so thankful iHerb ships to Malaysia. Then I no longer need to drool longingly at stuffs only available in the US.

As part of my first order from iHerb, I was attracted to a few items from Physicians Formula. Previously I could only drool over Drugstore.com :P

This kabuki brush looks really interesting with the eye catching blue colour.
It is very dense and soft to touch. I use this with pressed and loose powder, and so far I really like it.

Its size allows me to cover my face in just a few quick rounds. Just stipple and buff. Time saving! I like it even more for it distributes the powder evenly, no cakey look.

My only concern is due to its short bristles, when washing this I had to be extra careful not to get excess water into the trunk. Also the bulky size may not be most suitable for travels.

Other than that, USD10.51 well spent :)

Body Shop's shower gels are usually a "luxury" for me. I know for shower a normal bar soap would do just well, but there's something about indulging in yummy scented body washes...

I got this when they have a buy one free one promotion. RM29.90 for 2 isn't too expensive I think (now that I'm not on a student's budget).

This doesn't lather alot, but when used with a wash cloth, cleanses really well. I love love the fresh scent of watermelon. So yummy. The fact that this is biodegradable and without sulphate and parabens is just an added bonus.

Rinses well and won't dry out skin, won't leave an oily residue as well.

I redeemed this during their new opening in Penang.
It came in a heavy glass bottle. Its texture is just like water, with no white residue.

It took me a long time to finish this because.. it does nothing for my skin. At least I didn't see any changes. When I have whiteheads attack, this toner didn't seem to help either. So for me I have nothing much to say about this.

Just glad I emptied this, would have hate to put this to waste..

Clarins Pure and Radiant Mask

.. with Pink Clay.

Clarins Says:
Purity, freshness and radiance for combination or oily skin
A deep-purifying mask—with refreshing Pink Clay and Alpine Willow Herb—cleans, tightens and refines pores, leaving a fresh matte result in just 5 minutes.

Softens, smoothes and comforts irritated skin with Linden extract. Non-drying texture rinses easily and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Made in: France
Nett Wt: 5ml
Scent: Mild powdery

Got a small sample size that lasted me about 2 uses. The texture is soft and very spreadable; unlike most clay.

After leaving it on for 5-10mins it didn't harden and dry out my skin. Easily removed with muslin cloth.  My skin then feels supple and not dry.

I like that the scent is very mild and did not leave me with red patches. However I'm not sure if I would spent the amount for a full size. Himalaya Herbal Neem Mask seems to be just as good. . If not better.

Another Fast Growing Collection - Sleek MakeUp

A while ago, I commented that my Bourjois collection was growing. Suddenly Sleek Makeup got jealous and gave a competition! Heh, just my excuse..

Just within 3 months my collection grew from nada to... below! Didn't know why I got the eyes pallettes, but I like the shades! Actually I tried a few times and so far, compliments!

And oh.. the blushes, are the reason why I obsessed over Sleek. I tend to avoid paying for shipping, so that's why I waited till now..

Luxola has been earning alot of my moolah, and I have a feeling they will continue to.. because I just got a fat promotion at work *grins* This is my 3rd free bag now.. and I'm anticipating another sale so I could make a damage ordering the bigger Sigma brush set.
