Dr Wu Basic Care Series Gentle Soothing Cleanser and Makeup Remover
Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in Cleanser, Dr WuWhiee what a mouthful. This review is based on a sample sachet trial.
I'm on holiday now and am trying to use up some samples. After day 2 I couldn't be bothered with BB Cream anymore and head out without makeup.
I initially thought it was a cleansing oil and I rubbed it on dry face. I felt weird because the texture was runny and when rubbed on palm had slight lather... when I add more water it occurred to me that it is a foam cleanser *silly*
It felt light and rinses very well. Doesn't strip my skin dry and my skin feels fresh. Nice. But I don't think it would be a good makeup remover..

I got these when the news of Vichy pulling out of Malaysia came to my knowledge. They were on buy 1 free 1 clearance.
This is a fine cleanser. On my bare faced days I use this both day and night. It doesn't rinse well though.. I think it is meant to be wiped off with tissue. But I don't like using tissue, or no rinsing (icky); so my trusted dampened muslin cloth it is.. After cleansing my skin really does not feel tight or dry.
I'm not comfortable with just using this alone when I have my BB cream or foundation on. I find it still leaves some residue on.. However this is my go to cleanser in the morning when I do not want to strip off too much oil from my skin.
I've since finished one tube, and am wondering if I would repurchase this again (overseas that is..). I'm not exactly loyal to facial cleansers.. but I really do like this one quite a bit.

I use up cleansing cream way faster than cleansing oil; this tube lasted me about 2 months. I love the creamy texture but don't leave an oily residue. Not overly rich.
Whether or not I wear BB Cream during the day, I would still use this as first step in cleansing. It emulsifies just the way I like it upon massage with water. Easily rinses off.
Melts away makeup - yes, beautifully.
Moisturises - yes too. Didn't feel dry or tight.
Gives nutrition to skin - hmmm I don't know. Is cleansing cream supposed to nourish??

I wouldn't mind buying again; but I just notice that mineral oil is listed first.. hmm maybe not then.

..and similar to the Avocado Cleansing Cream, I bought this
because of its fresh scent! I love green juice by the way, and anything similar gives me the thought of being healthy (weird I know).
I used this together with the cleansing cream, and these quickly became my favourite combo. I did mention that the cleansing cream does not leave behind a film on my skin. However I have a habit of double cleansing in the evening.
This is very easy to work up a lather, best used with a washing net (I read somewhere it isn't a good idea to directly slather the cleanser onto skin)! When it is really fluffy in foam, its such a joy to use. When thoroughly rinsed off, it left my skin feeling really clean, but not tight.
Lasted me a couple of months and I thought I've thoroughly squeezed it out. But when I cut the tube up, I still have about a week or so usage.
What is not to love? :)

I bought this because I was in a Baviphat store and couldn't make up my mind on what to get. Also I fell in love with the fresh scent. It reminds me of avocado juice I had in one of the Vietnamese restaurant in KL.
Great decision actually. Because I looked forward to using this each evening.
Yep, am very attracted to the avocado smell. But also because it cleanses well. BB cream, foundations melt when I massage this on, lightly. The cream texture is quite light and it emulsifies ok. No thin film and my face felt ok after rinsing, not tight. I guess it really does moisturize and nourish.

I've just finished the first bottle (lasted about 3-4 months). The smell is really fruity, but sometimes I find it a little stale-ish.
This cleanser is not for evening use - not good for removing makeup or sunscreen. It is however very suitable for morning use where you need very very mild cleansing. It cleanses alright with a cool rinse after that. Doesn't dry or make skin feels tight.
It lathers slightly, rinses off pretty easily. Doesn't sting my eyes.
But that's about it I guess. Not much to love, but I think I would repurchase this if they are on sale again. RM15 for one 250ml bottle is very worth it :)

This is like a wallpaper product for me - easily forgettable. No major disadvantage - no breakouts, dryness, tight feeling, redness.
I was gifted 2x of this cleanser so I just use it up since I am usually not picky with cleansers. Usually my morning cleanser; because I don't find this cleansing enough for evening use. Doesn't foam much, and doesn't leave a sticky film after rinsing.
I don't really buy the oxygen power hype.. even the internet info about this product has reduced significantly. The beads has no impact at all.. not exfoliating or anything.
I'm left with 1/4 of my second bottle... and somehow have stopped using this.. I find that the colour has clouded a little.
I use this to clean my sponges (and sink heehee).

The small 15g tube is convenient when I go travelling :) Lasted me quite a number of uses. Easy to lather, but also took a while to rinse it all off.
Not good enough to remove makeup. I still prefer to use oil cleanser before this. After rinsing, it took a while before skin feel tight; a sign this cleanser is not very moisturizing (or my skin getting drier). The rice germ oil is right at the bottom of the ingredients list; hence not moisturizing enough.
In conclusion, just an average drugstore cleanser. Friendly to the wallet.

To keep this review short - I am not keen to repurchase the full size of this cleanser. I use this at the gym, on days where I don't wear full foundations / BB Creams.
As a basic cleanser (morning use) I find no fault with it. But in the evening, this is not enough for a thorough cleansing, ridding all the makeup residue.
As its texture is of jelly type, it does not foam. It feels like slathering on aloe vera gel on the face...
So, for its price with just very basic cleansing power I don't think it is worth a repurchase..

I don't quite like this as I feel it leaves behind an oily layer on my skin after rinsing it off. A little too rich for my liking. I prefer the Elixir Concentrate.
In terms of cleansing power, it does an okay job in removing light foundation. However for eye makeup - it tends to blur my vision, hence my dislike for this.

This is part of the birthday gifts from Burt's Bees. I took it along for my Taiwan trip. On most days except for the day I took my wedding pictures, I wasn't wearing any makeup. Just usual skincare and sunscreen. So I guess this is good enough to melt the dirt.
Unfortunately I didn't love this cleansing cream. It gave me a cooling, tingling sensation each use - in a way I didn't like. Felt a little burning sensation on my upper lip (nope, I did not shave nor have any blemishes there).
This didn't lather at all. But as cream, I didn't expect it to lather anyway. It felt quite drying on my oily combination skin... yet I didn't feel it was enough to really clean my skin; and would follow up with foam cleanser.
Its a shame.. I find that Burt's Bees facial products don't quite work for me..
The probably good thing is that, it is 98.8% natural?

I bought this just because I had a RM5 Guardian voucher, about to expire. Wasn't in the mood to get anything in particular, and because I could only use the voucher for purchase more than RM10, I was just looking at price tags (not a good practice).
I settled for this because, everyday we use cleansers, right? And, I've never really tried anything from Clean and Clear, so.. :)
The tube is 85g, but this lasted me months.. seriously I de-potted the very last bits into a plastic container and I still have it with me. I no longer use it now (still left 1/4) because it is already over the expiry date.
It foams very easily, I usually foams it up with a sponge, then apply it to my face. If I use this straight on, I sometimes find that little cream residue are left on my skin, probably stuck in my pores >_< weird..
It did not cause me any breakouts or drying up my skin. But if I skip my earlier oil cleansing step and use this, then leave on without toner etc for a couple of mins, I feel slight tightness.
Since it has expired, I'm using the leftover to clean my makeup brushes, sponges and even the sink heee. Does a great job!
However, I don't think I will repurchase this..
Last year I used to get really excited waiting for Avon's bi-weekly newsletter. I stopped visiting Avon when they implemented this silly rule: They will stop sending if you did not make any purchase in 6 weeks. And you have to pay RM1.40 if you want the booklet. Insane rule! Those who are not making a business out of Avon products - isn't this ridiculous to expect customer to keep on purchasing?

I bought this by chance. I was reading The Star and came across Loreal Cleansing Milk for RM18.88 so I headed to Guardian to spend some money :P
Incidentally, it was sold out. But by then I'd already want a cleansing milk desperately. I'd kill my skin in no time with twice a day foam cleansers.
Determined to get a cleansing milk anyhow, I came across Nivea range and this caught my eyes. No mineral oil :D Eucerin and a few other brands has mineral oil in them. And it was on sale RM14.88 hooyah! That was all the encouragement I needed. :)
I didn't know this is a highly raved product. Now I join the team.
I love it! I use this in the mornings, each time size about 20 cents coin. Its creamy, but it rinses well with water (unlike Boots Cold Cream).
It keeps my skin nicely moisturized, no tight feeling. And the classic Nivea scent is soothing. Oh, doesn't sting my eyes too.
I do see myself re-purchasing this (if I am not diligent enough with grapeseed/olive oil) :)
Guess what attracted me into buying this one? ;)

This smells really really good! Like slathering on sweet cream each wash.
It doesn't lather alot, unless I use a wash sponge. When I do, it produced very fine mousse and cleanses very well. If used the conventional way, I find it needing a lil extra time to rinse off.
Skin felt really clean, but on some days I experienced some tightness if left a while without following with moisturizer.
On the brightening claim - just slightly. Did not give me the bleached look. Just brighten slightly.

Suds up well, not much of a lather though. I'm pretty fine with this.. less lather means less SLS in it (wait.. I don't think I see SLS in the ingredients, yes?) ;)
Brownie Points:
- It doesn't leave my skin feeling filmsy / tight (unless I overcleansed).
- I use this only in the evening. For a better cleansing, I use a facial brush to gently cleanse the pores. Skin feels incredibly smooth after that.
- A thorough cleanse only requires a small pea-size.
- No, after using one tube my pores did not completely disappear (just looks more even) nor I suddenly look like a supermodel hahhaa.
- I find that my moisturizer sinks in better, and BB Cream / foundation looks so much better.
- Will definitely re-purchase
