Clarins Pure and Radiant Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

.. with Pink Clay.

Clarins Says:
Purity, freshness and radiance for combination or oily skin
A deep-purifying mask—with refreshing Pink Clay and Alpine Willow Herb—cleans, tightens and refines pores, leaving a fresh matte result in just 5 minutes.

Softens, smoothes and comforts irritated skin with Linden extract. Non-drying texture rinses easily and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin.

Foxy Frangipani Says:
Made in: France
Nett Wt: 5ml
Scent: Mild powdery

Got a small sample size that lasted me about 2 uses. The texture is soft and very spreadable; unlike most clay.

After leaving it on for 5-10mins it didn't harden and dry out my skin. Easily removed with muslin cloth.  My skin then feels supple and not dry.

I like that the scent is very mild and did not leave me with red patches. However I'm not sure if I would spent the amount for a full size. Himalaya Herbal Neem Mask seems to be just as good. . If not better.

Foxy Frangipani Says:

Scent: Fresh floral

Nett Wt: 25g

This was one of my random buys while browsing at the mall. It was on sale (definitely, else I wouldn't be buying :P ) so I bought a box to try.

What I really like about it was, the sheet feels really soft and thin; but not easy to tear. Coverage was great! Alot of essence were packed into the sachet.

I left it on for about 25 mins, by the time I peeled it off, the sheet was still wet. My skin looks dewy, but not abruptly whiter (which is good.. I don't want to look like ghost!). Gave my skin a moisture boost and I do like the light floral scent as well.

Nutox Oxyfusion Restorative Hydrating Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Nutox Says:
This hydrating mask helps restore the skin's optimum moisture balance and work beneath skin surface to protect against the visible signs of ageing, fine line and loss of elasticity.

Instantly fill up gaps in between lines to diminish signs of ageing. Enhance skin transparency and whiten dull complexion.

Foxy Frangipani Says:
Scent: Not scented
Texture: Thick gel
Nett Wt: 60ml
Made in: Malaysia

They described this like a dream.. "Injection free makeover" lol.
I like that this is paraben free. It cannot replace botox - that is for sure.

This is my in-shower quick moisturizing mask. I usually cleanse my face, then slather this on while I proceed to shower. By the time I rinse off my skin feels quite supple. The effect doesn't last long though. Nice to have it on while I indulge in body scrubs, else skin would feel tight.

Ok to consider as in between hydrating treatment for the skin. Wallet friendly too.

Sabai-arom Jasmine & Aloe Vera Face Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Sabai-arom Says:
(for all skin types)

Don`t you love how fresh you feel after a catnap? Don`t you want your complexion to mirror such heavenly freshness, too? We do – that`s why we concocted this purely natural recipe for you.

Apart from moisturizing Aloe Vera, long used by Thais to soothe tired and sore skin, we added the blissful scent of Jasmine. Thais find the smell of this tiny white flower both relxing and reviving.

In order to take advantage of its sensory benefits, our ancestors sprinkled Jasmine flowers in their bath and drinking water, even today many people hang fresh garlands on the rear – view mirrors in their cars for the same purpose.

Try our clay mask and witness your face come alive with a fresh, healthy glow – didn`t think it was possible to literally glow, did you? And in less time than your catnap, too.

How to stay pretty:
Apply an even layer onto your clean damp face, avoiding the eye contour. Leave this effective recipe on for 3 to 5 minutes for the nutrients to fully penetrate your skin. Wipe and rinse off.

Foxy Says:
Net: 100g
Price: Roughly about 419 Baht
Texture: Cream
Scent: Very sweet comforting, like cream with nice hint of jasmine.
Made in: Thailand

What I like most about this is its scent!! Gorgeous jasmine but not overpowering. (I am tempted to try all things Jasmine).

Plus points: doesn't cause breakouts for my skin. Hydrating properties are good. I usually use this in the shower. After cleansing my face, slather on a thick layer and then proceed with shower / scrub routine. About 3-5 mins after that, I rinse off with cold water.

Easy to remove, does not leave oily residue (dries to clay).

There is nothing I dislike about this, however this is not a miracle product ;)
It does a great job in hydrating plus smells awesome, that's about all.

Suggested Usage:
Massage a juicy layer of Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask onto slightly damp clean skin. Wait five minutes, until a full froth forms, then rinse well (or wipe off with a cotton pad) and follow with daily detoxifying facial toner, our good for all skin types toner and/or moisturizer.

Scent: Fresh, like sea breeze with alot of greens
Nett Wt: 10ml - sample / travel size
Color: Pink
Price: n/a. Part of a set with cleanser and lotions.

I quite like this mask! Don't know about the oxygen claim, but after each use I find my skin really plumped up. Less redness and more energetic. Easy to use too, as I usually shower during the 3-5 mins wait time.

Sabai-arom Tamarind & Honey Face Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Sabai-arom Says:
According to our survey, 99% of you wished you had a naturally translucent complexion. We can`t work miracles but we can share with you this terrific beauty recipe used by generations of Thai women to rejuvenate dull, tired skin.

Tamarind is a fruit that has long been used for its natural exfoliant properties, locals believe it brightens the skin too (this is probably due to its high AHA and Vitamin C content). Honey is widely used in Thai Spa`s to moisturize skin.

Try our clay mask with its honey-flavored scent and see your face brighten and your mood lighten.

How to stay pretty:
Apply an even layer onto your clean damp face, avoiding the eye contour. Leave this effective recipe on for 3 to 5 minutes for the nutrients to fully penetrate your skin. Wipe and rinse off.

Foxy Says:
Nett Wt: 100g
Price:  310 Baht (it was on sale I remember)
Scent: TAMARIND :D
Texture: Creamy
Colour: Light beige

I really like the smell! So much of tamarind the word "foreign" kept popping in my mind each time I use this. And somehow I do feel good just smelling this.

It is very easy to spread on, and it doesn't sting.
No tingling whatsoever, just comfy.

It does tighten slightly after about 5-10 mins (the instruction says 3-5 mins hehe); and washed off easily.

Hmm I didn't get translucent skin, but after rinsing off my skin does look brightened a little, and nicely moisturized. No complaints here :)

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Kaolin, Glycerin, Bentonite, Tamarindus Indica (Tamarind) Powder, Tanakura Clay, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Ocetyl Stearate, Polysorbate 60, Butylene Glycol, PEG-20 Methyl Glucose Sesquistearate, Steareth-2, Stearath-21, Titanium Dioxide, Heney Extract, Oryzanol, Panax Ginseng (Ginseng) Root Extract, Aloe Barbardensis (Aloe Vera) Extract, Artocarpus Lakoocha Heartwood Extract, Broussonetio Papyrifera Bark Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glaba Root Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vit E), Parfum (Fragrance), Ethylhexylglycerin / Methylisothiazolinone

Google of The Day: Cinnamon Powder for Skin

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

I have been very tempted to include Cinnamon into part of my skincare routine. Of course, the packet of cinnamon powder stayed in the kitchen for a couple of weeks because my hobby is procrastinating? :P

Finally! I cut it open and store into the empty Gui Ling Gao containers (oh I love the size, just perfect for a quick mask mixture / storing my scrub / mask powders – more reasons to stock up hee).

I attempted my first facial mask with cinnamon powder, without any expectation in return. I just wanna try it. Instead of the infamous honey + cinnamon mix, I used yoghurt and cinnamon instead.

- 1 teaspoon of yoghurt
- ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon powder

Mix them well, and I started to really like the yummy smell..

This proportion is enough for 2-3 times use – I like to slather on a thick layer as a treat. So what happen then?

- I felt a stinging sensation, like slight burning for a good 2-3 mins!
- I left it on for about 15 mins
- It kinda thickened a little after a while
- Washed it off with a towel soaked in warm water.

Foxy Finds:

- This is best used at night just before you retire to bed; because it does leave a pinkish flush on my face for about 15-20 mins. Unless its Halloween and you wanna sport a baboon-arsed face.. Its gone after about 20 mins though.

- Face is really smooth to touch, very soft. Likes!

- Face looks hydrated, no tight feeling.

- The whole experience is really calming.. cinnamon makes me think cosy, and warm on a rainy day..

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

I did some Googling on Cinnamon for skin care and here are some infos:

- Cinnamon actually has antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. This could explain the burning sensation I felt? Further reads, some ppl do experience stingings / burnings sensation. But if it kills the germs for me and load my skin with antioxidant, heck the 2-3 mins are worth it!

- Remedy for Skin Imperfections: Applying equal quantities of a paste of Honey and Cinnamon Powder on the affected skin before sleeping and washing it the next day morning with warm water for about two weeks; would remove the infections and bring the glow back to the skin. Even pimples would disappear. Hmm I don’t think I could sleep with this on! So… sticky and may attract ants! Nooooo…

Say, a little more info on Cinnamon:

The name cinnamon comes from Greek kinnámōmon, from Phoenician and akin to Hebrew qinnâmôn, itself ultimately from a Malaysian language, cf. Malay and Indonesian kayu manis which means sweet wood.

Its flavour is due to an aromatic essential oil. This oil is prepared by roughly pounding the bark, macerating it in seawater, and then quickly distilling the whole. It is of a golden-yellow colour, with the characteristic odour of cinnamon and a very hot aromatic taste.

The pungent taste and scent come from cinnamic aldehyde or cinnamaldehyde and by the absorption of oxygen as it ages, it darkens in colour and develops resinous compounds. Chemical components of the essential oil include ethyl cinnamate, eugenol, cinnamaldehyde, beta-caryophyllene, linalool and methyl chavicol.

Some of its other uses:

- Cinnamon has aphrodisiacal powers. (Ooohh..?)

- Strengthens heart beat

- Reduces the cholesterol level in the arteries. Honey and Cinnamon revitalize arteries and veins by unclogging the clogged arteries and veins

- Arthritis: take daily morning and night one cup of hot water, with two spoons of honey and one small teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder. It is stated that if taken regularly, even chronic Arthritis can be cured.

- Bladder Infections: take two tablespoons of Cinnamon Powder and one teaspoon of Honey, in a glass of lukewarm water, and drink it. It destroys the germs in the bladder.

- Toothache: make a paste of one teaspoon of Cinnamon Powder and five teaspoons of Honey and apply on the aching tooth. Apply three times.

- Weight loss: equal part of Cinnamon Powder and Honey is boiled in a cup of water and consumed daily half an hour before breakfast and before sleeping it reduces excess weight in an obese person. Whoaaa!

- Reduces fatigue

- Restore the hearing power from 20Hzs to 20Khz. Really!?

- Get rid of bad breath: Gargle a mixture of cinnamon and honey in water. Poor Listerine…

- Hair loss: Those suffering from hair loss or baldness, may apply a paste of hot olive oil, one tablespoon of honey, one teaspoon of cinnamon powder before bath and keep it for approx. 15 min. and then wash the hair. It was found to be very effective

There! So many benefits..

I will be continuing this yoghurt cinnamon mask.. :)

My Beauty Diary Bulgarian White Rose Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Here comes another review on my favourite beauty product - face mask! :)

Pic is from the internet as I'm away from home now hehe.

My Beauty Diary Says:

Foxy Says:
As usual I left it on for more than an hour, hehe.
I used the plastic sheet that came along with the mask to trap more moisture; so I lied back and read The Women's Weekly :D

After an hour, the mask was still moist - still felt comfy. But I quickly peeled it off, massaged a little, and then wiped clean with water. I can leave the essence on as it is not sticky; but I prefer to wipe it with water then proceed with my night skincare..

Scent: Nice subtle rose scent. Quite relaxing.

Texture: Sturdy mask sheet (not easily torn), enough essence but not slippery.

After use, I do find my skin brightened and soft. For the past week, each time after I remove my makeup and cleanse my face, there was this little patch between my chin and cheek that appear red and itchy - I have no idea what causes it. What I love about this mask is that it calmed my skin.. no redness!

And earlier before I washed the mask off, I asked The Bf to translate what was on the packaging (I can't read Chinese :P ). Right after he did, he looked at my skin and went "Whoa, so this stuff works eh? Really brighten leh!"

*all smiles*

Purederm Red Ginseng Essence Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

To stop me from procrastinating further, here is a quick review of Purederm Ginseng Mask ;)

Pretty packaging, right?
 Purederm Says:

* Skin recovery “Bottle shaped” sheet type essence mask.
* 100% Natural pulp sheet prevents skin trouble and provides close adhesion   to skin.
* Panax Ginseng Extract protects skin and increases elasticity.
* Vitamin E & Collagen: age defying & brightening.

Blended with Korean Red Ginseng, Vitamin E and Collagen to revitalize your tired skin.
Skin feels elastic, moisturized and radiant.

Foxy Says:
Mmmm I quite like this mask. The amount of essence is just nice, non drippy.
The texture of the mask sheet is very soft and thin, but not to the extend you could rip it apart.
Scent: Ginseng! The moment I tore the packaging, strong ginseng smell filled my room, and not the fake-ish smell. I love ginseng and felt relaxed having this mask on :)

Price: Hmm I think RM5.90? I bought it for RM4.90 when it was on sale @ Watsons

I don't know how much of essence is in one pack.. it wasn't stated on the packaging. (or my eyes playing tricks on me??) Anyhow, it was enough - I had it on for over an hour.

Haha yep, I don't like to be interrupted while I read ( washing off mask inclusive :P ) With the fan on, after an hour, the sheet was still kinda moist.

After the ginseng therapy:
- My skin is nicely hydrated. Superficial fine lines were gone (temporary till office next day)
- Visible brightening effect.

Would I buy this again.. yes only if they are on sale ;)

Hokkaido Lover - E.G.F Reconstruct Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Hmmm what a weird name.. reconstruct what? I don't usually mask on Mondays (always home dead tired) but, today I needed a nap before waking up shortly to book my Zero Fare flight to Bangkok! :))

Hokkaido Lover says:
Suitable for all skin type, especially for aging skin.

Ingredients: E.G.F, collagen, silk protein, Bolivian uric acid, aloe extract, seaweed extract, green tea extract, lavender extract

What it does:
~ Regenerates skin and improves/prevents wrinkles
~ Tightening and hydrating effects
~ Improves skin elasticity
~ Lighten scar
~ Restores & reconstructs skin structure

Foxy Says:
- The mask sheet is a lil too big for my face, hehe. No biggie.
- Don't know about improving wrinkles: I used it once and I don't have wrinkles.. But it is very hydrating. My skin plumps up nicely, stays hydrated after about an hour or so.

- It smells abit funny to me.. sourish, like vinegar? No its not expired, expiry is 2012. It is tolerable though.
- It came with a thickish plastic sheet which I find very useful in creating a lil heat, hence the mask stayed moist for quite some time. I had it on for about 40 mins.

- The essence is quite slippery.
- It has brightening effect. I find my skin less dull after use.

I don't remember who I bought this from.. but I spent about RM2.40 for this one. I might repurchase, I wish it didn't smell like vinegar though hehehhe.

Noble Sensation Aromatherapy Rose Oxygen Element Soft Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Are ppl getting long winded these days? Trend or what. Such long name - what a turn off!

I was introduced to this mask by Sasa's SA during one of my random trips there.

Being a sucker for masks, I had the itch to take it home with me, and RM14.85 for 2 just gave me more reason in doing so!

Noble Sensation says:
Aromatherapy Soft Mask Series is formulated with multi natural aromatic botanical essence, collagen, elastin, fibrin etc. It penetrates deeply into the skin and provides it with the necessary moisture and nutrient. The skin is sterilized and nourished with less visible wrinkles and a whiter healthy look. Extract will restore natural moisturizer and elasticity of the skin

Rose: Can refresh the mind, improve attention and persistence, enhance the self-confidence, make users confident and happy, as well as promote the firmness of connective tissue, fade wrinkles, whiten skin and remove spots, powerfully nourish skin, help you resiste depression and sadness.

Ingredients: Rose extract, sodium alginate, corn starch

Foxy Thinks:
Such HUGE claim! And Foxy DISAGREE, huff!

First off, the packaging is not bad (ok I was "a little" attracted to the packaging)

Inside the package were 2 sachets - 1 consist of powder, and another the essence.

So I'm supposed to mix them until I get a sticky consistency and apply it to my face, let it dry and strip it off my face.

I don't like the mixing part, cause the powder tends to bubble up, but thats not my major grit.

The scent was ok, smelled of rose, not really fake rose, not really pure either. Just tolerable sweet-ish smell.

There were 25gm/ml each so thats a big amount, and seeing I was supposed to "strip" it off my face, I'd assume this mask would turn rubbery when dry.

Wrong! It dried up to a clay consistency.
And you can strip clay off yr face, can you?

It did tightened super temporarily- because when you  wash it off you either have to rub it off vigorously; or patiently wet it with water again, and gently wipe off with a wash cloth (so what tightening!?) I did both, in the exact sequence.

So lets see:
Less visible wrinkles: How is this possible when it is so dang dang hard to wash it off?
Improve persistence: Hell yeah, desperate to get it off my face :(
Make users happy: NO
Resist depression: Are you kidding me...

This is quite a double turn off for me.. I'm not looking forward to use another one. If I do use it, its gonna be the wet it and wipe off method.

*sulks*

Watsons Cucumber Facial Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Watsons Cucumber Facial Mask

-          Function: Firming & Moisturising
-          Made in Korea
-          Price: I remember it was around $25.90 for a box of 5. Right now Watsons is having an Xmas promo of 2 packs for $36.75

Last week or so, I was sick for a few days. Throbbing headache and runny nose a la leaking water pipe. Needless to say, my skin suffered too of course. Dull, blotchy and dry – ughh.

So I randomly picked a mask from my “This Week’s Use” drawer. Yes I have such drawer hehe. Each week I’ll select a few items from my Beauty Safe into the TWU drawer because it’s just too much hassle rummaging thru my collection.

So the lucky mask was Watsons Cucumber Facial Mask! I heard the mask gulped. I’m supposed to make her skin calmed down from the blotchiness and give it a moisture boost? Why me why now?!?

Too late to escape Cucumber Mask! Muahahhahah tore off the packaging and….

Smell: Took one whiff and the word “green” and “fresh” came into my mind. A little similar to the smell of freshly cut grass. Hmm relaxing… my nose likey.

Took a quick nap and 40mins later, my face was:

-          A LOT LESS blotchy. I think it’s the cucumber calming effect.
-          Nicely moisturized. Skin looked plumped up. And the sheet mask is still wet. Enough to wipe over my neck, arms and legs.

I don’t know if it really firms up my skin though. Didn’t notice much of a firming effect.
But overall this mask is a relaxing one with great calming and hydration effect; I think I’d pop it into the fridge next time round.

I’ll only re-purchase when it is on sale. ;)

Mint Julep To The Rescue!

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

I tell you, they are evil and have minds of their own!
They know I have a Service Award dinner tomorrow, and voila, they pop up on my chin - meet Mr Pimple!
Dang, I ran out of tumeric powder for a quick detox mask...

So my next best option - Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask.

I don't use this often because:
- It not easily available in Malaysia (boo)
- I got a small tube of 56g for $19 (USD5.40)! Holy.. that is a rip off! Walgreens sometimes has BOGO at USD3 for 226g!

I love it because:
- It really helps to clear off those nasties quick
- It doesn't leave me red patches, nor stings
- My nose don't hate it, minty like chewing gum :)
- It doesn't harden much when it dries.
- The cooling feeling stays.. mmm soothing...
- Spreads easily, soft texture but not runny
- I wish I can say because its cheap (it really is in the US) but... :(

Anyway, I'm hoping the red pop would pack and go by the time I wake up tomorrow.
Maybe I'll pat on some "bedak sejuk" on it.. nyehahahahah

Etsu B300 Potion Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in ,

Let's freeze our face! Been sick for a while now, and my skin has became dull and lifeless. Time to pamper it to the max. I've had this mask for quite a while.. and have mixed feelings over it. Why I like it: ~ It firms my skin ~ It hydrates, making my skin look plump. Why I'm not in love with it: x It can be messy during application x It does nothing to tighten my pores x A tad difficult to wash off x E-X-P-E-N-S-I-V-E What I did: Mix the liquid with the powder, and you need to mix them really fast else it curds up. Slather on clean face and neck. One sachet is actually enough for 2 person, else put on a thicker layer including the neck.. Feels like: Jelly, yellowish Smells like: Not heavily scented Relax while waiting for mask to dry.. It tightens after some time, and then wash off. I usually do this before shower so it doesn't mess up the bathroom and hair etc. After masking: ~ Touch - feels smooooooth, and plumpy (like toink toink) ~ Look - a little brighter and livelier

Bioglo Enzyme Mask - Exfoliating & Skin Refining

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in , ,

When I saw this product being introduced in Cosway Catalogue, I had this feeling that I really really want it. And badly I wanted it. And bought it. So anyway, I've been using it for quite some time, and I quite like it.

Here's what Cosway has to say:
Reveal more radiant and vibrant skin with the Bioglo Exfoliating & Skin Refining Enzyme Mask. Its gentle ingredients work synergistically to gently loosen and dissolve dull surface cells and impurities, increasing circulation and improving tone and texture for a healthier, brighter complexion. Suitable for all skin types & ages. Great for men too.

Here's what I think:
Bioglo Enzyme Mask comes in a pink 100g tube. Made in Taiwan. The texture is creamy, white - not too thick. Easily spread on face with finger. Doesn't dry on skin even if left on too long. The scent is rather pleasant. Lightly scented with sweet Jasmine (and I love Jasmine). Its so light that 2-3 mins after application the scent is not noticeable. Washes off easily, there is no need to scrub hard.

After that.. Foxy finds that her skin: - Is brighter - Is plumped with hydration (not bread faced, just so the pores are not that obvious) - Is not red with patches / no tingling as well *love* Introductory price was $29.90

Guardian Hydra Absolute Facial Treatment Mask

Posted by: Foxy Frangipani in , ,

Last weekend I went shopping @ Guardian with Mom and The Boyfriend. Pleasant trip as I always end up buying something :P Mom bought this Hydrating Mask from Guardian (about $13.90 I think). 5 Sheets per box. She is very into anything hydrating.. lol. Anyway she gave me one to try on. The Description: Intensively hydrates and nourishes your delicate skin. With: Phyto-collagen, Sodium Hyaluronate, Pomegranate Extract, B-glucan, Vitamin E. -Formulated in Korea, made in China User Feedback: Upon opening the package, there are white colored essence inside. Similar to Cosway's Milk Mask. There aren't too much essence like My Beauty Diary or Watsons' Mask, but enough to wet the mask sheet. The smell isn't over-whelming, but nothing like pomegranate. I had it on for about 30 mins (the instruction says 10-15 mins). By then the mask sheet was already half dried. It left me with some stickish residue.. I massaged the essence in, but not comfy enough for me to sleep with it. So I wiped my face with sponge once-over and slathered on some moisturizer. Overall I find this a so-so product. I don't think I will re-purchase this although I do find it hydrating. But Watson's are better.
